Blog Makeover + Lorac Giveaway

In honor of my fabulous blog makeover, I decided it was perfect timing for a makeup giveaway! Y'all know how much I adore makeup and when I found this Lorac 'Pro To Go' set it was too perfect not to buy two and share one with y'all!  The set comes with 3 brushes, an eyeshadow palette with 4 gorgeous colors, and a full sized mascara all packaged in an adorable little case.

I figured since I'm raving about how much I love this makeup set, I'd share with you a look that I created using my kit.

First I started with a clean palette and used an eyeshadow primer base. Y'all know I'm obsessed with the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer, but I have also tried the NYX version and love it too. You can't go wrong with either!

Next, I used the 'ivory' shadow from the palette to highlight my brow bone.

From there I used the 'rose' color in the creases of my eyes using the 'pro' crease brush from the kit.

I then used the 'pro shadow' brush and colored in the bottom portion of my lid with the 'spice' shadow. A little goes a long way with this color so start super light and then you can add a little at a time as needed.

I then used the 'aubergine' color to darken the outer corners of my eyes (< & >).  Using that same color, I used the 'pro angle' brush from the kit to create a smoldering look directly beneath my bottom lashes.

Next I applied black eyeliner on the bottom and black liquid liner on the top to create a precise dramatic line.

From the kit, I used the Lorac Pro Mascara.  I love how the brush has a section where you can create dramatic volume with the thick side and it also has a part to separate and access smaller lashes on the corners of your eye that might otherwise get neglected.

This is a picture of the final look!

There are so many other fun looks I have created with this palette! It is a definite must have, so don't forget to enter below!

button down blouse + boots

top: nordstrom rack // pants: paige denim // boots: nine west (similar) // earrings: tory burch // wristlet: louis vuitton // wrist: michael kors, coach, stella & dot //

As predictable as a button down blouse and boots are in fall, I was happy to hop right on the bandwagon.  I love the classic chic look of a comfy blouse with my favorite fall boots.  This outfit happened to be the perfect weekend daytime outfit to run errands in and cheer on the Clemson Tigers, hence the orange.  Despite the sad loss of the tigers, I at least felt confident in my gameday get up!

Studs and Stripes

Top: TJMaxx (similar here & here) // Skirt: Only Hearts (dreaming about this pencil skirt) // Wedges: Tory Burch (on sale!) // Handbag: Michael Kors (similar) // Bracelet: Bella Jack via TJMaxx (similar)

As much as I loved pairing this pencil skirt with the perfect summer lightweight crop top seen here, I equally adore this fall take on the pencil skirt. It paired perfectly with this classic cut blouse accented with edgy studs to sass up the look.  This outfit has the right amount of class and sass to wear just about anywhere.  I have to give a shout out to TJMaxx for the ability to find amazing tops and accessories like these for less than $20 each! As cheesy as it sounds, I have no shame in calling myself a maxxinista!

Windy City Wardrobe

Top: Old Navy // Vest: Nordstrom // Hat: Topshop // Jeans: Paige // Boots: Nine West, last season (similar, similar) // Earrings: Kate Spade // Handbag: Louis Vuitton //

This past weekend my husband and I made a trip to Chicago to visit friends and family. I have been looking forward to this trip for so many reasons, but also stressing about what to wear.  I'm sure this won't come as a surprise to y'all but packing light, for me, is an impossibility.  Not only was I packing for fun days and nights in the big city, I had to pack practical cold weather clothes.  All that to say, this was one of my favorite outfits I wore over the weekend.  I was layered up just enough to stay warm but still felt daytime chic! Is this hat not to die for?
Lastly, I had to document my first (of many) red holiday starbucks cup of the season - not to mention it helped keep my hands warm!

Nailed it

There's nothing better than a good manicure. I had heard about and seen Jamberry nails around but always figured it would be way too complicated or expensive to actually do yourself.  My thoughtful aunt sent me the sweetest sercie - an entire Jamberry kit complete with everything I could ever need to do a Jamberry manicure.  If anyone out there is looking for the perfect sercie or Christmas present for the girly manicure loving female in your life, my aunt nailed it - pun intended! :)

I wanted to walk y'all through a couple of pictures I took while applying my Jamberry manicure, but I also included the official Jamberry application tutorial because it was the best, by far, of all the application tutorials.

Official Jamberry Application Tutorial

I used all the items in the picture below to complete the manicure:

First steps are to obviously clean your nails with alcohol or acetone, I opted for acetone just to make sure I didn't have any leftover polish. It's also important to trim and push back your cuticles.

Next steps included putting the sheet of nail overlays on top of your nail and deciding which size to use for each finger.  I adored this geometric pattern but opted to use only 4 per hand and go with an accent finger using a solid navy. Once I sized out all my fingers the process was very simple and redundant

1. Use wooden stick to peel back the overlay
2. Trim the piece in half (I was able to do this because my nails are fairly short)
3. Warm the adhesive using the heater
4. Apply carefully to nails and seal around the edges using thumb or purple cuticle tool and trim to length of nail
5. Place finger in front of heater to ensure the adhesive is fully activated and stuck to nail

I just repeated these 5 steps over and over again for each nail. Here are a few of the photos I took from the process:

I've already gotten so many compliments on this manicure! Below I listed a few of the new patterns I am craving for fall and the upcoming holiday season!

perfect fashion paradox

sweater: jcrew (similar and budget friendly) // jeans: paige // wedges: guess // leather jacket: kenneth cole (craving) // bracelets: urbanite, stella & dot // earrings: kate spade // clutch: saks off 5th

This outfit was meant to be a fashion paradox.  I adore the feminine details encompassed in the 'bow sweater' and shop urbanite bow bracelet within the same look as an edgy leather jacket and mixed material modern booties.  The edgy feminine paradox makes this outfit my idea of fashion perfection.  Y'all know I love a good southern feminine accent paired with a trendy modern look!
